Job Position: Airport Line Service Tech
Location: Ridgeland, SC 29936
Pay Rate: $18.00/hr
Shift: Tuesday-Sunday, 8am-5pm
POSITION SUMMARY:
Join our dynamic team at Ridgeland – Claude Dean Airport, where every day brings exciting opportunities to work with aircraft and contribute to essential aviation operations. As an Airport Operations Specialist, you'll play a vital role in keeping our airport running smoothly and safely.
Marshal and guide aircraft safely on the ground
Perform fueling operations for various aircraft types
Conduct aircraft towing operations
Maintain and inspect airport fuel systems
Respond to pilot and aviation customer needs
Inspect and maintain runways, taxiways, and airport grounds
Perform regular safety inspections and document findings
Handle landscaping duties using specialized equipment
Operate various vehicles including tractors, mowers, and fuel trucks
Maintain buildings and airport-related facilities
Use FOD sweeper to ensure runway and taxiway safety
Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintenance documentation
Manage inventory records and work orders
Operate two-way radio systems for airport communications
Use computer systems and related software for daily operations
Coordinate with contractors, tenants, and county employees
Respond to after-hours calls when needed
Assist with emergency situations and special requests
Support staff with fire inspections and ramp inspections
Work with emergency personnel and law enforcement
High school diploma or GED
Valid South Carolina driver's license (or ability to obtain one)
1-2 years of relevant experience preferred
Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds (or up to 100 pounds with assistance)
Full color vision and hearing capability for safety operations
Ability to work in various weather conditions
Willingness to learn FAA regulations and airport safety protocols
Ability to learn and apply FAA rules and regulations
Understanding of fuel safety protocols
Knowledge of grounds and facilities maintenance
Familiarity with proper use of pesticides and herbicides
Proficiency with hand tools and maintenance equipment
Basic computer skills
You'll be trained to operate:
Pickup trucks and fuel trucks
Tractors and mowers
Scissor lifts
FOD sweepers
Front-end loaders
String trimmers
Other specialized airport equipment
